On Monday, February 24, at 1:00PM, the Hudson Valley Music Club will present Yolanda F. Johnson, soprano (accompanist to be named later), who will perform a program in honor of Black History Month. Yolanda will perform Spirituals and Art Songs. This program explores traditional African American Spirituals and their role as hidden messages related to the Underground Railroad. Why did they “Wade in the Water?” and who told the chariot to “Swing Low?” The program will also feature several rare selections of art songs by African American composers, including works by Florence Price and Nadine Shanti.
A reception will be held after the concert where the audience can meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.
Admission - $20.00
